Cucumbers

Cucumbers have been such a success!  I planted the seed undercover end of March and was able to get them into the beds by early May.  This photo May 8By June 3, they were starting to flower
By July 8 we realised that we should have make a taller frame for them
And we can’t eat them fast enough! They are delicious – crunchy, tasty and beautifully moist. They keep exceptionally well in the fridge – makes me realise how unfresh the store bought ones are!

July 23 and still producing!

I regret not planting additional plants earlier. I have taken a chance and sown some new seed now. Could not get Breso seed, but and trying two other varieties – Long Vert and Palermo (the latter a smooth skinned variety recommended for greenhouse growing, but worth a try!)
