Winter sowings

The weather remains unseasonably warm.

I have sown more lettuce leaves (winter mix) as well as chêne (red & white) I’ve also put in some spring onions. I don’t expect them to grow fast, but if they germinate in these warm days they should give me an early crop in spring. I hope!

I have sprayed the fruit trees with Vitax winter wash this week. The apples were badly infested with aphids last year so I am hoping to get rid of any eggs.

I am still unsure of how much to prune in winter 😦  In an effort to get the Gala apple to create more spurs I have pruned back some leaders to 5 buds -and will prune them back to 2 next year. Taking some photos of one area so that I can keep track of what I have done.
